How we check our numbers.

Who writes them

Guides and sheets are written by Kitchen Table Sums. We're not tax agents or financial advisers, so we stick to facts and worked examples, and point you to official help for your own situation.

Where the numbers come from

  • Tax rates, thresholds and due dates come from the ATO. Budgeting guidance comes from Moneysmart. Laws come from the Federal Register of Legislation.
  • Every figure is linked to its source and carries the date we checked it.
  • Every figure is checked against its official source before a guide goes up, and again when rules change.

When we review

  • Every June, before the new financial year, we review every tax figure.
  • After each federal Budget in May, we check what changed.
  • When a rule changes mid-year, we update the guide and add a dated line to its changelog.
